ABOUT THIS PIECE

When asked to ponder the concept of GRATITUDE I thought about creating a marble boomerang. Boomerangs are historical pieces in my work. The only ones I've done so far are etched insults. They talk about the chain of violence and how what you do is returned. Also how certain words or phrases turn into actions immediately by saying them, such as insults or curses. Similar boomerangs, but made of wood, are in the collections of the Reina Sofia Museum and the others of marble belong to the Daros collection. For this exhibition, I thought about doing one of these boomerangs but with the word GRACIAS. I never made a positive one but I thought it may be an exception in life within the series of insults.
