ABOUT THE WORK // ARTIST STATEMENT

In the Nonduality series, Mabel Poblet invites us into a sensory and spiritual experience where the luminous surface of her works—reminiscent of sunlight reflecting on water—first captures the viewer’s attention. Yet, upon closer observation, a symbolic language emerges, laden with memory, migration, and transformation. The transparent plastic flowers, meticulously affixed to the canvas, evoke offerings cast into the sea: acts of faith, farewell, and mourning for those who risk their lives in search of a new destiny.

ABOUT MABEL POBLET

Living and working in Havana Cuba, Mabel Poblet is one of the most highly sought-after young artists to emerge from the contemporary Cuban art scene. Graduating from the Higher Institute of Arts, Poblet also attended the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts where she was a student of Carlos Garaicoa. In 2005, she was awarded the Prize of the Jury at the Provincial Salon of Visual Arts (Cienfuegos, Cuba) and the Prize of the Provincial Council of Visual Arts at the Salon 5 (Cienfuegos, Cuba).
